Note: this is a members only event (Leaders and Ambassadors) and members can each bring one guest
Get ready for winter with a cold weather hike in Bear Mountain State Park! We’ll meet at the Bear Mountain Inn parking lot so that we’re ready to hike at 10:15am. NYC folks can take the 8:45am train from Grand Central and get off at Peekskill where someone should be able to pick you up and drive you to Bear Mountain Inn. Plan on being out for 2.5-3.5 hours on a fairly rigorous trail — we’ll climb to Perkins Tower early on so we warm up nice! Following our hike, we can have lunch at the historic Bear Mountain Inn (note that you should bring money for lunch).
Please be prepared with the right gear here. You’ll need warm, sturdy and ideally waterproof hiking shoes and possibly traction devices or hiking poles if it’s icy (google traction devices, they’re good to have). Dress in layers (avoid cotton, it gets wet and cold), bring extra socks (wet feet are the worst!), pack some water/food for the trails and bring a change of clothes for a well-deserved yummy lunch.
There will be a members only meeting (Ambassadors and Leaders) that will begin at 5:45pm.
While this event is open to all, CCNYC Members (Leaders and Ambassadors) are free of charge and can also bring one guest free of charge — please make sure that you’re logged in to access this benefit. Non-members can join CCNYC here.
